Anti-gravity yoga – what is it?

If you want to put your body in order, relax your muscles and joints, and make your body more flexible and hardy, you should do anti-gravity yoga in a hammock. In response to the yoga and weightlessness question, it should note that these are not classical practices or fitness. Training is not only able to stretch the muscles but also strengthen them. Now yoga in the air is almost the most popular in the world and fully competes with the usual practices.

What is the essence of the direction?

Anti-gravity yoga is a young but already quite popular trend in classical yoga, the principle of which is to perform Assan yoga in a hammock suspended from the ceiling. This uniqueness allows you to take poses not available for acting on the mat. Anti-gravity yoga perfectly promotes the development of body flexibility, maintains good shape, relaxes tired muscles, and corrects posture. The main advantage of the anti-gravity direction is the absence of age restrictions and physical fitness.

Christopher Harrison discovered the anti-gravity current. In the past, the man is a professional acrobat, working in the air with a canvas. One day, while practicing, he attached the second end of the canvas to the ceiling, received a hammock, and performed exercises from classical yoga. Noticing this impact on the body and internal state, Christopher became the progenitor of the direction of anti-gravity yoga, which quickly gained well-deserved popularity.

During anti-gravity yoga classes, blood circulation and posture improve, muscles relax and strengthen, and body flexibility develops. In addition to just the usual body training, courses at maintaining a person’s spiritual balance, teaching him to control and manage emotions in any situation, and listening to his own body.

One of the critical elements in the direction is a decompression coup, the implementation of which is also available for beginners. Simply put, it is hanging upside down with relaxation of the whole body, allowing you to stretch the spine and eliminate problems.

Advantages

Many have inclined their choice towards anti-gravity yoga classes since this direction has many positive factors that have a beneficial effect on a person, namely:

  • Physical development. The main advantage of gravity yoga is the ability to perform movements more freely, reducing the load on an unprepared body, especially for beginners. But, at the same time, classes in a hammock intensively train muscles since more complex asanas require the presence of developed stretching and strength (especially hands).
  • Back support. A small amount or complete absence of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle negatively affect the condition of the back, causing pain, a curvature of the spine, and sleep problems. The hammock makes it possible to take the position upside down. Relaxing the whole body allows you to stretch the spine and eliminate deformity and back pain.
  • Improvement of emotional state. Any physical activity is the best way to end the working day, especially after the office. Yoga in a hammock allows you to be alone with your thoughts, leaving all the negative energy behind the hall’s doors. In addition, hormones that lift a person’s mood during yoga, for example, endorphin, serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine, are produced.
  • It helps the body’s organs work better. Anti-gravity yoga helps to improve and improve the functioning of the systems of the whole body. There are separate sets of exercises that benefit blood circulation and digestive and respiratory systems and help to cope with high and low blood pressure.
